When asked about the project, Jon Fratelli answers nonchalantly to The Daily Star: *"I'm thinking I'll probably release the solo album after we finish touring this new album. It's not a big deal, just something to keep me busy."* Read the full piece here. MP3 at bottom.

The Fratellis - 'New York, New York'

Recorded at their sold out Mercury Lounge show in New York on March 23rd 2007, this is a really delightful, though not entirely accurate, rendition of Sinatra's 'New York, New York.'

Ending the set with a song by one of my favourite singers about my hometown, sung by lads from the country in which I just spent a year and half was an amazing ending to an already brilliant show.

If you listen closely, you may just hear me singing...

Fratellis Turn Down Beckham

The Fratellis have been offered, and immediately turned down, the opportunity to record the official song for David Beckham's first game as a member of the LA Galaxy.

The trio was asked to re-record The Beatles' classic, 'Hello Goodbye', for the July match, but have declined.

Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli explains: "We've turned down a huge list of ridiculous things like that... We're not a bunch of traveling salesmen. If we don't get successful on our own terms then we won't do it at all.

We were like, 'No fucking way.' It would have got us noticed, of course, but we'd have lost our self-respect."

Fratellis Cancel Remainder Of US Tour

They've got a case of the Lily Allens.

NME reports: *The Fratellis have cancelled a string of dates in north America, complaining of exhaustion.

The band, who performed at the Coachella Festival in California last week, were due to appear in Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Denver and Arizona, but have had to ditch all shows up to May 13. Barry Fratelli told the Daily Record, "I'm afraid we're knackered, plain and simple, and need some time to recharge. We love playing gigs, we are not in the habit of cancelling shows unless there is no other choice and unfortunately this is the case."*

Don't worry, the guys will be back in the States this July (Siren Fest?).

Britpop Allstars To Recreate 'Sgt. Pepper'

Via NME: Oasis, The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs are to cover songs from The Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' to mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album's release. The original album was released on June 1, 1967 and to mark the event the big names will all be covering tracks from the record for a BBC2 special to be aired on June 2.

Razorlight, James Morrison, The Fratellis and Travis are among the other acts taking part. The BBC reports that Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the original sessions will use the same equipment to record the new versions. Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be not only a unique radio event, but a very special musical moment. The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the great albums of all time."

The Fratellis @ Mercury Lounge 3/23: Can We Make Out Later?

Jon Fratelli = AMAZING and very hard to keep your eyes off of. Singing 'New York, New York' with Scots at the Mercury Lounge was very surreal.

The trio will be touring the West coast of North America through all of May. Check out their MySpace for tour dates.

Please go check out Abbey's shots over at Punk Photo. They are pretty incredible. You might spot some familiar faces in the crowd as well.
