The Killers Team Up With Lou Reed

The tune is called 'Tranquilize'. Brandon Flowers shares more details about the duet and an upcoming B-Sides compilation with NME: *"We were thrilled with being able to work with Lou Reed. The song was calling for a duet and his voice was just right. The sentiment of the song is very him. There's a desperation to it. It's one of our more depressing songs, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm a big fan of 'The Masterplan' by Oasis and 'Hatful Of Hollow' by The Smiths. It's for our fans who want the whole collection in one package."*

Brandon Flowers & Wife Welcome Killer Jr.

Via People Mag: *Killers singer Brandon Flowers & his wife Tana welcomed their first child, a boy, a source confirms to PEOPLE. The baby, whose name has not been released, was born on Saturday.

The couple, both 26, live in Las Vegas and were married in 2005 on a Honolulu beach with only his bandmates and their crew in attendance. The birth comes during a short break in The Killers' touring schedule. They hit the road again starting Aug. 14 for several European festivals before heading back to American venues in support of their sophomore CD, Sam's Town.*

Brandon Flowers Ain't Horsin' Around In New Video

According to an interview with NME dating from last year, Brandon claimed that this particular track, 'For Reasons Unknown', serves as 'the bridge between Hot Fuss and Sam's Town'. Hmmm, you can be the judge of that one. I suggest paying special attention about ten seconds from the video's end, where Brandon's head is photoshopped onto the top of a rotating turkey, sunglasses and all. I kid you not.

Brandon Flowers Ends Red Rocks Gig After 7 Minutes

Via ContactMusic: *Rockers THE KILLERS walked offstage during their concert in Colorado last night (17May07), because frontman BRANDON FLOWERS was suffering from a throat injury. The band took to the stage at the Red Rocks Amphitheater at 10pm but Flowers led his bandmates off midway through the second song. A doctor then went onstage and told the audience it would be damaging to Flowers' voice to carry on singing. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr promised disappointed fans the band would return to perform there.*

Brandon Flowers & Wife Prepare For Brandon Jr.

This article in The Sun (released today) reports that Killers frontman, Brandon Flowers, and his Urban Outfitters managing wife, Tara, are about to officially announce that they are expecting their first child together. The little (Mormon) boy's due date is right around Christmas time.

In a recent interview, Brandon is quoted as saying: “I’m married, I want to have kids and I feel this album (Sam’s Town) is a great interpretation of what’s happened up until now. Kids are planned for soon — we just don’t want to have them while I’m on the road.”

Woops! Guess that didn't go as planned. The Killers are currently in the midst of a full North American tour with festival dates lined up for the better part of the year. Rumor has it that the baby will be named Brandon Jr. Express your dismay in the comments.

The Killers - Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself?

Before all the hot fuss spread around Hot Fuss, The Killers recorded a wonderfully subdued version of Morrissey's 'Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself?' for BBC radio. The original track can be found on Moz's 1994 LP, Vauxhall And I, while The Killers take appeared as the B-side to the 'All These Things I've Done' single in November of '04.

As the myth goes, Moz heard The Killers version of the tune and immediately asked the guys to open up for a tour spot in Vegas later that evening.

Tell us what you think after checking out the cover below.

Britpop Allstars To Recreate 'Sgt. Pepper'

Via NME: Oasis, The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs are to cover songs from The Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' to mark the 40th anniversary of the classic album's release. The original album was released on June 1, 1967 and to mark the event the big names will all be covering tracks from the record for a BBC2 special to be aired on June 2.

Razorlight, James Morrison, The Fratellis and Travis are among the other acts taking part. The BBC reports that Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the original sessions will use the same equipment to record the new versions. Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be not only a unique radio event, but a very special musical moment. The range and quality of artists involved ensure that this will be a fitting tribute to one of the great albums of all time."

The Healing Power Of Arcade Fire

Idolator points us to a very interesting piece in the NY Times about Dr. Gawande, a surgeon, who is becoming notorious for creating iPod playlists as he performs his surgeries.

More from the NY Times: "On a recent day, when he took out a gallbladder, two thyroids and what was supposed to be a parathyroid gland but maybe wasn't, the playlist included David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor, Aimee Mann, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, the Decemberists and the Killers. The music wasn't turned up high, but it rocked sufficiently that the anesthesiologist bobbed his head, the O.R. nurse tapped her toe, and the member of the team in charge of all the clamps and retractors drummed his fingers on the instrument tray."

Hey, I dig it. Just one thing - if you're playing me some Aimee Mann while I'm having my tonsils removed, kindly make sure nothing from the Magnolia soundtrack is on that playlist - too hearbreaking.
