Fratellis Turn Down Beckham

The Fratellis have been offered, and immediately turned down, the opportunity to record the official song for David Beckham's first game as a member of the LA Galaxy.

The trio was asked to re-record The Beatles' classic, 'Hello Goodbye', for the July match, but have declined.

Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli explains: "We've turned down a huge list of ridiculous things like that... We're not a bunch of traveling salesmen. If we don't get successful on our own terms then we won't do it at all.

We were like, 'No fucking way.' It would have got us noticed, of course, but we'd have lost our self-respect."

Yaaay! I like them even more knowing they're not only not sell outs, they're anti-sell outs. They're sell ins!

haha, wow, are these not the guys that were featured in iPod commercials everywhere? That's the only reason i've ever heard of them in the first place. Not that there's anything wrong with that but you can't be in an iPod commercial and then say something like that...

Sure you can. They said they would only want to be noticed on their terms. Having a song that they have done on their own featured on an ipod commercial does wonders for publicizing the band's craft, while specially recording a song because you've been asked by the LA Galaxy is a little different.

That said, I'd love to hear them doing Hello Goodbye, it's a shame they declined it.
