Thom Yorke: 'In Rainbows' Experiment Was A One-Off

He tells Billboard *"Yes. It was a one-off in terms of a story. It was one of those things where we were in the position of everyone asking us what we were going to do. I don't think it would have the same significance now, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time."*

Thom Yorke Discusses Radiohead Effect On Girlfriend

He shares the following words with Rolling Stone, regarding In Rainbows and his long-time partner, Rachel Owen: *“I think my missus isn’t ready to hear it yet. Having seen me go through the mill making it. It’s a difficult thing for her to watch me go through the whole process. She doesn’t like it. So she’s not exactly ready to listen to the music. Does making a record make me a difficult person to live with? That’s about a one-hundred percent yes! She does it though..."*

Nick Cave Draws Contrasts & Comparisons To Thom Yorke

He tells The Scotsman: *I don’t think I’m the bearer of any wisdom. It’s my point of view, which I’ll willingly concede is peripheral. I wouldn’t encourage everyone to have that worldview. I’m not pretending to speak for a larger section of society. That’s Thom Yorke’s job: he’s speaking for ‘us’. I’m not. I never had that talent. There are people, great artists, who are equipped to do that, who have the capacity to be the voice of the people. Not me. I’m like the friend it’s fun to go out with but don’t tell your problems to. You tell them to Thom Yorke.”

Thom Yorke: 'In Rainbows' Is Our 'Revolver'

He tells The Independent: *In Rainbows is a conscious return to this form of 45-minute statement. Of course, it was possible to make it shorter. But our aim was to describe in 45 minutes, as coherently and conclusively as possible, what moves us. In Rainbows is, at least in our opinion, our classic album – our Transformer, our Revolver, our Hunky Dory.* Do you agree with his declaration?

Thom Yorke Responds To 'Extremely Upsetting' Gossip

He declares the following on Radiohead's official blog: *for your information>>> we did not ask for a load of cash from our old record label EMI to re-sign. that is a L I E. The Times in the UK should check its facts before it prints such dirt. whAT we WANTED WAS some control over OUR WOrK and how it was used in the future by them - that seemed REASONAblE to us, as we cared about it a great deal. Mr Hands was not interested. So neither were we. We made the sign of the cross and walked away. Sadly. We are extremely upset that this crap is being spread about. To be digging up such bullshit, or more politely airing yer dirty laundry in public, seems a very strange way for the head of an international record label to be proceeding... much love. thom. x*

Thom Yorke: Going Solo Was 'Unsatisfying'

Here's a direct quote from an exclusive interview with Zane Lowe set to air tonight on Radio 1 (between 7 and 9pm): "It was kind of dull. It was deeply unsatisfying because you weren't sharing much of the process but then I got back with the band and it was like 'Oh my god, there's all these other other people I have to work with now'."

Thom Yorke Declines McCartney Invite For Collaboration

AEW reports: *Paul McCartney was turned down by Thom Yorke when he asked for a collaboration with Radiohead. According to The Sun former Beatle Paul McCartney approached TY with a view to collaborating, but his request was turned down. Paul McCartney, who recorded with longtime RH producer Nigel Godrich on his album ‘Chaos & Creation In The Backyard’, explained TY wasn’t comfortable playing anybody’s music apart from his own... “My daughter was putting an album together and she put us in touch. I asked Thom to do a duet, but he said he couldn’t because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead’s material.”*

KT Comments On Thom Yorke's Green Side

Via At Ease Web: *Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall has pledged her support for fellow Thom Yorke - but insists he doesn’t need to abandon his career to save the planet. Last year Thom Yorke voiced his concerns over the green credentials of touring as a band, and suggested he might refrain from going on the road again as a result.

But Tunstall has urged Yorke to continue touring, as his influence will help entice fans into being environmentally aware. She says, “I don’t agree with that argument (that touring in bad for the environment). He (Yorke) puts out less carbon output than a massive conglomerate company. And that massive conglomerate company can do nothing, or isn’t interested in doing anything in raising awareness about the problem. But Thom Yorke’s got an incredible voice and there’s no point in sabotaging that. “And someone like (him), I’m like please go on tour! Because so many people will follow what you say, because they really respect you. And they know that you really know what you’re talking about.”*

Thom Yorke - Jetstream

Check out the MP3 below of Thom's 'Jetstream', a tune that was to be included on last year's solo LP, The Eraser, but was ultimately cut from the final selection at the last minute. While the track is definitely not one of Thom's strongest ditties, it has a certain undefinable charm to it.

Thom Hearts Bat For Lashes, Bat For Lashes Hearts Thom

Here's what Bat For Lashes' Natasha Khan had to say when she found out that Thom Yorke is in love with her debut record, Fur And Gold, as lifted from Rip It Up magazine: “I get quite shocked that Thom Yorke said he loved Horse & I.

When I was a teenager I grew up listening to The Bends every day in my Walkman, crying and being really Gothed out and stuff, so it’s so weird for me years later to hear that.”
