Who The Hell Is *Bat For Lashes*?
Last night I was chatting with CEC of The Disconappers, when he began raving on and on about Brighton-based performer, Bat For Lashes. After comparing her to Kate Bush, Bjork and Cat Power in one heavenly mixing pot, I had no choice but to do some major research on the songstress ASAP. Turns out he was right - she is magnificent. A stunning vocal range, a haunting sense of melody and a tendency to produce some highly amusing videos. Learn more about the Mercury Prize-nominated, Bat For Lashes, here on her official site. Check out the clip for 'What's A Girl To Do?' below. MP3 of the track at bottom of post.
Bat For Lashes is currently in the middle of a brief N. American tour. She'll be at NYC's The Knitting Factory this evening (for those of you not at MIA). For further dates check here!
i was surprised to see that only one new york blogger seemed to be interested in attending their show at maxwells. you can check out the review at shelvesofvinyl.blogspot. they seemed to enjoy the show as much as i did. hopefully she will get a better turn out at knitting factory tonight. i will be there!
