Killing The Joy?
It's The Killers' take on Joy Division fave 'Shadowplay'.
Take a listen to the tune below and tell us what you think.
I'm still undecided on this one.

Very, very average :-| Should have let go a lot more
Makes Ian Curtis turn in his grave...
Like it a lot!
Janita
Very good "cover". I don't think Ian Curtis is turning in his grave--that is dumb. I bet anybody if Ian were to be alive, He would be onstage with them singing this song. It's a tribute song. Would you rather Fall Out Boy be covering it--not! The Killers are a great band, yes, too mainstream now for my taste, but they still put out good songs. So all you "indie-hipsters" get over it!
This is QUALITY! I saw them play it live in LA and they really brought it live. This cover really stood out as one of the two or three best songs of the night--everyone there thought it was a new Killers song! And I really like the "ooh ooh ooh's" but I might be alone on that. I agree, don't hate on the Killers, hipsters! They're in it for the long haul.
Not at all! They are not killing the joy. Actually, they are bringing the joy back! I don't think any of the new bands could've pulled out this cover as well as The Killers have. Excellent track!
The Killers do a bad impression of New Order at the best of times. Here they've given us an atrocious 'tribute' to Joy Division.
It's lost 100% of its power and emotion and sounds like something Brandon Flowers and co knocked out in half an hour.
I think they should feel ashamed to call themselves Joy Division fans.
Great Cover I think the Killers did a great job of covering them.
Their take on Shadowplay is brilliant in it's own way, but what Joy Division cover could possibly be better than the orginal? It's captures pretty well the atmosphere of the orignal song without being a blueprint. I would say the same thing abouts Moby's version of New Dawn Fades, which i think is one of the better JD covers
i didn't like this cover but i have no problem with the killers covering joy division because of their relationship with new order.
I don't exactly know how I feel about this, either. I guess it doesn't hurt that The Killers are buddies with Corbijn.
nothing could have prepared him for what happened next. as he clicked on the link, he thought to himself, "there is no way this is going to be good". in fact he knew it would be very, very bad. whether it was curiosity, morbid fascination or the need for self flagellation, he opened the link. recently clairvoyants, seers and other self-appointed prophets have been using world events to signify the apocalypse, but nothing seemed to display the end of man better than what he heard next and as he listened, he began to weep.
Like someone already mentioned, do not judge this cover until you have heard it live. It was one of their encore songs, and they f-ing rocked it. It sounded AMAZING live!
