Amy Winehouse's Glastonbury Punch Victim Speaks Out

James Golstelow tells NME: *I saw a hat being thrown from behind me and it hit Amy's beehive. She looked down, saw me looking up, and her elbow went for me. She caught my forehead, then someone may have shouted something from the back, which is when she went in again. At the end of the day it is all part of being at the front and being pushed by thousands of people. It is all part of the Glastonbury experience. I'm just pleased I got to see her. She did a great act. Not everyone can say they have been hit by Amy Winehouse. I just want to shake the person who threw the hat!*

Organizers Behind Reading & Glastonbury Create Vineland

NME reports: *The people behind the Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury festivals have set up a new bash in north America. Festival Republic have teamed up with C3 Presents (who set up the Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals) to create the Vineland Music Festival, which will take place in New Jersey between August 8 and 10 next year. It's promised that The Vineland Music Festival will be a "weekend of pure unadulterated rock'n'roll pleasure; the signature stamp of Reading and Leeds, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza". The organisers added there will be "a heady mix of the greatest bands in the world, energy charged sets; new rising stars and the freshest acts hitting the stages before the press have had a sniff of them". The bash will take place on a site with acres of "lush, green campgrounds".*

Sounds like Failed Field Day done right!

Arctic Monkeys Cover Shirley Bassey

For those of you who haven't already heard, Arctic Monkeys covered Shirley Bassey's mega-single 'Diamonds Are Forever' at this year's Glastonbury Festival. It took about two weeks to surface but see below for the live track in video and MP3 formats. The Music Slut gives this one two thumbs way up, the boys did a fantastic job with the classic tune.

Glastonbury: Free Loo Roll for All

The NME has been updating hourly with reports from the famous yearly (every other year?) Glastonbury Festival.

The festival is often plagued with rain, and this year is no different.

A nervous Arctic Monkeys played opening night and covered Shirley Bassey's 'Diamonds are forever.' They were joined by surprise guest, Dizzee Rascal.

Carl Barat played with Dirty Pretty Things and Pete Doherty is scheduled to perform with Babyshambles. With all the talk of a Libertines reunion, we wouldn't be surprised if Barat made a surprise appearance onstage with Doherty. The NME has the same feelings ("It is also rumoured the pair will reunite for an acoustic gig on The Park Stage this afternoon") but has of now, it hasn't happened.

A free roll of biodegradable toilet paper has been given to each festival goer in an effort to keep things clean and green. 160,000 rolls have been given away.

The festival is half way over and arrests are already up from last year with 163 so far. Only 45 of those are non-drug related. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Just like NYC in May, Jesus Mary and Chain wowed the audience. For the UK, this was the first time in 9 years.

"It's gross out there, thank you for coming guys, you're beautiful," Arcade Fire singer Win Butler told the soaked and muddy audience. Régine Chassagne wore Wellies.

1,200 people have been hurt in while running around in the mud. 32 have been brought to hospital.

We wish we were there.
