Mark Ronson Plus Kaiser Chiefs Equals

XFM reports: *Speaking at The Brit Awards 2008, where Kaiser Chiefs were nominated for an impressive three gongs, drummer and chief songwriter Nick Hodgson told XFM: "We've got a load of songs ready for the new album - we're busy playing them, rehearsing them and writing a load more. There's a big difference between these songs are our old stuff. It's definitely worth people getting excited about hearing these as they're are gonna be so different." Elsewhere a reliable XFM source close to Mark Ronson claimed that the award winning producer is set to produce the follow up to 2007's Yours Truly, Angry Mob.*

Winehouse & Ronson Plan Holiday-Themed Record

Mark tells Rolling Stone: *“We're talking about making a holiday record, with Christmas songs on one side and Hanukkah songs on the other. She's got songs called ‘Kosher Kisses’ and ‘Alone Under The Mistletoe’. She was kind of messing around, but I was like, ‘You have all these amazing records to play for Christmas, like Motown and Carla Thomas and the Charlie Brown Christmas, and unfortunately, us Jews have nothing that cool to listen to. So we should do something.' She's writing songs and we talked about getting a studio. I've to finish a few other things first.”*

The Only Time I Ever Wished I Lived In L.A.

Last night in LA, Robbie Williams made a surprise appearance at Mark Ronson's solo concert debut. He joined Ronson on stage to perform the Charlatans' cover 'The Only One I Know.' Mark Ronson and Robbie Williams on stage performing TOGETHER. I am barely holding it together over here. I recently saw Ronson in person, hanging out at the bar downstairs at Bowery Ballroom before Jamie T and could barely bring myself to look him in the face. I can only imagine the girls going completely ape-shit at this show when Robbie took the stage.

I saw Ronson perform myself at Highline Ballroom in July. It was one of those rare occasions where I just wanted to see a show "because". It was a really fantastic performance and highlighted the absolute fun, brilliance of his new album Versions. He was joined by SantoGold, Daniel Merriweather and Alex Greenwald of Phantom Planet. Despite me being grossly hit on by an older magazine editor (name withheld), it was one of the more fun shows I've been to recently. Pics below.

Mark Ronson Finds Winehouse Look-Alike For New Vid

I guess with all the back and forth involving Amy in and out of rehab, it was a much easier task to just hire an Winehouse-esque lip-syncer for his new video - a cover of The Zutons' 'Valerie'. Enjoy the brand new clip for the tune below. More Ronson at bottom of post.

Mark Ronson Responds To Portishead Jab

Read Portishead's original anti-Ronson statement via this link. Here are Mark's retaliating words, as lifted from his MySpace blog just hours ago: “In reference to your blog insulting my ‘muzak’, grow the fuck up and go back to doing what you did in the early 90's--making monumental music... Then maybe, again, your music will be popular enough to be played in supermarkets, like it once was.”

Dan Deacon + Erase Errata @ McCarren Park: D.A.N.C.E.

With temperatures soaring dangerously close to triple digits, Baltimore's reigning electro-king, Dan Deacon, brought the pool to an absolute frenzy with a rousing (albeit short) set this afternoon @ Brooklyn's McCarren Park.

With an iPod shuffle, mini-keyboard and myriad other beat-ready devices in tow, Dan's unique dance/shout-friendly tunes generated the most smiles, cheers and dance-offs I've seen at a live gig in quite some time.

Truly stellar. Click here to view Dan's summer schedule via MySpace. I strongly recommend your attendance should he be headed to a city near you. Fun fun fun.

Purchase Dan's Spiderman Of The Rings here at his (rarely updated) official site.

MP3: Dan Deacon - The Crystal Cat

San Francisco-based trio, Erase Errata, took to the stage shortly after Dan Deacon somewhere in the neighborhood of 5pm. The post-punkers put on an impressive show, which - in all honesty - would have probably sounded even stronger if it had not been immediately following Dan's positively mesmerizing set. Learn more about Erase Errata here at the band's MySpace page.

MP3: Erase Errata - Tax Dollar

DJing for the better part of the day was UK sensation, Mark Ronson. I am not extremely familiar with his recorded material but his back-to-back-to-back punch of Radiohead's 'Just' + Amy Winehouse's 'You Know I'm No Good' alongside Britney's 'Toxic' scored himself some major points in my book today. Kudos!

Mark Ronson, Oh My God I Can't Believe It

Matt is at Animal Collective, I am sitting in my den watching travel shows in my pjs and Mark Ronson is at the Apple Store on 59th and 5th in NYC. DAMN, why did I not know about this sooner? He'll be there at midnight and will no doubt be spinning songs from his new album, Versions.

Not only is Mark Ronson one of the most talented people currently in the music industry, he is also smoking hot.

Question though. If Ronson moved to NYC when he was 8, why does he have a thick London accent?

Kaiser Chief's bassist Simon Rix and keyboarder Nick Peanut recently had this to say of Ronson's cover of their hit single: "We heard it quite a long time ago and we liked it, we thought it was good," said Simon. "I think it's nice because he does it but does it well."

Peanut added: "He compliments the song, it's not just like he's destroyed the song or anything like that, or that it's a really bad version, it's just an interesting DJ-producer version of the song.

"When you first start hearing it, it was kind of one of the first covers we'd heard of one of our songs, a properly done one."

I agree, it's good. Not GREAT, but interesting.
