Clinic's Visiting Hour Has Arrived

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!

Straight from the Domino newsletter:

The brand new album by Clinic, Visitations, is due for release on 16th October. The album, produced by the band with Gareth Jones, was recorded over the Summer in Liverpool.

A stark contrast to the darker, denser sound of Winchester Catherdral, Visitations has an intensely upbeat and fuzz based party feel to it. Below is a track by track commentary on the album:

'Family' - a ballroom favourite, marred by fuzz.

'Animal/Human' - delves into social engineering and impact on human decency.

'Gideon' - raw, neo-12 bar outing with illegal symbols.

'Harvest(within you)' - laid back and groovy modern classic.

'Tusk(album version)' - intense punk song, about some people's need to lie to exist.

'Paradise' - very mellow yet emotional dancefloor excursion.

'Children of Kellogg' - the lynchpin of the new record. Proto-metal riff, xylophone and Johnny Mathis-styled segue/coda.

'If you could read your mind' - medieval acid punk.

'Jigsaw Man' - acoustic pagan celebration, contains the opening line "Mother melted in the fridge".

'Interlude' - erotic break-up song.

'The New Seeker' - communal fuzz rebirth with skewed electronica.

'Visitations' - fragile and traumatic set closer. Features the line "One more offer one more lie, are temptations in your life".

July! July!

It's truly been a while since we had a fantastic new release? What was the last one... The Stills? We had the heavy hitters earlier in the year (We Are Scientists, Arctic Monkeys, Secret Machines...etc) but lately it's been kinda slow if you ask me.

That is until JULY!

Not one, but two fantastic albums are set to be released within the coming weeks. July 11th brings us Thom Yorke's The Eraser, while July 25th brings us Sufjan Steven's The Avalance. Anyone who knows me at all can guess that these 2 will surely fall within my favorite LPs of the year.
