By sheer serendipity, I caught Kimya Dawson's BPC-curated
afternoon set on Day 2 of SXSW 2008. Albeit brief, the gig was one of the more delightful ones I witnessed last Thursday. She chose various selections from her ever-growing discography, but loudest cheers went to her ridiculously random (and equally brilliant) cover of Whitney Houston's 'The Greatest Love Of All'. With Jason Trachtenburg giggling by stage left and Tiny Masters Of Today making a guest appearance on the show-closing Juno
fave, 'Loose Lips', it was as if somebody had exported New York's 4th Street to downtown Austin. Both photos courtesy of Miss Katie Kramer.
