Imposter Interpol Leaks Fake New Album

In the continuing saga of fake leaked albums circulating across the web, this morning's topic: Interpol.

It seems as if someone has gone ahead and 'leaked' an album by Cut City, entitled Exit Decades, renaming it Interpol: Mammoth. Hmmm.

Upon further dissection, a la the band's MySpace page and my sources, it seems that Cut City is an Interpol-esque band based out of Sweden. However, they definitely sound more Longwave than Interpol to my naked ear.

Here's PopMatters review of Cut City's Exit Decades. They seem to like it.

Apparently, all of this fake album posting is becoming quite trendy, for lack of a better term. What do you make of all of it?

MP3s: Cut City - Anticipation + Interpol - Leif Erikson

It's actually an early April Fool's prank. You can see the date in the title of the post. I'll be gone for a week to Arizona so I wasn't able to hold it off til then. Try to run with it, I've already received over 100 (screened) comments :D

Arrgggh

After falling for the Cut City/Mammoth fake album I found yet another 'FAKE' posting of the new Interpol album.

Some joker(s) have renamed the awful Killers 2nd LP 'Sams Town' with all the new tracklisting to Our Love To Admire.

Be careful out there...

I thought the songs were a bit upbeat and a little chirpy to be Interpol, and the voice was quite different. But on the other hand, there are some quality tunes here, and although I've been duped, I can honestly say the effects have been marvelous.

Although a lot of people feel "burned", I have to say that I'm quite pleased to discover this band. Without a doubt, this is a genius move, whether the band was behind it (which makes this all a bit cynical) or not.

why don't you go out and buy the album, and that way you'll get what your looking for. remember when there was no downloading! you actually had to get out of the house and go and buy something that didn't involve you using your computer, and Cut City sound nothing like Interpol, they sound more like Joy Division than Interpol does.
