Explosions In The Sky: The New Arcade Fire?

Well, not musically necessarily but their rise in popularity. Seems like the Texan post-rockers have gone from playing Mercury Lounge only a couple years back to selling out Warsaw (6x the size) in under a week. And that's before their new album even sees the light of day (we have to wait until March, sadly, for All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone)!

I gather it's the Friday Night Lights soundtrack that really pushed them to these new heights back in '04, but it still kind of surprises me. Anytime anyone else digs post-rock as much as I do, I start to get curious. If you couldn't tell by reading this blog, Sigur Ros, Mogwai and The Secret Machines easily fall into my top artists of all time.

The tracklist for All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone is as follows:

1. The Birth and Death of the Day
2. Welcome, Ghosts
3. It’s Natural To Be Afraid
4. What Do You Go Home To?
5. Catastrophe and the Cure
6. So Long, Lonesome

It also comes with a limited-edition bonus disc with the following remixes:

1. The Birth and Death of the Day [Jesu Mix]
2. Welcome, Ghosts [Adem Mix]
3. It’s Natural To Be Afraid [The Paper Chase Mix]
4. What Do You Go Home To? [Mountains Mix]
5. Catastrophe and the Cure [Four Tet Mix]
6. So Long, Lonesome [Eluvium Mix]

Get tickets to their 3/20 Webster Hall show right now!! It's the only NY-area show (out of 3) that has not sold out yet! (I just got mine!)

If you like post-rock you should check out the Icelandic band Miri. They recently got fine reviews for their gig at the Iceland airwaves festival on rollingstone.com
