James Murphy Offers A Corona-Fueled Apology

I'll leave the explaining to Mr. LCD and this afternoon's MySpace bulletin: *so i have to apologize and explain about the corona festival in mexico on dec 1st. we were confirmed to do this gig, and when we were traveling back from brazil we got a call from the promoter that the festival was cancelled. all of our equipment was about to leave brazil, and we had booked our flights for everyone (difficult, as we all live in different places), so a mad dash was made to re-route everything.

i cancelled all the flights from new york, and our tour manager amos and mix engineer cancelled the other flights and stopped the gear--this was done from the airport as we were changing planes. then back in nyc. a lot of crazy work, cancellation fees, kill fees, contacting the crew and band to let them know they could take the other work they'd turned down etc. etc. 2 days after THAT we were contacted by the festival promoters that the festival was back on. but our gear, half our crew, and 2 band members were now not available. it's a pretty insane situation, but it's what it is. i have to say, nothing like this has ever happened to us... we've had shows go funny, but not festivals (well, that's not true--we had 2 festivals in france cancelled day-of due to strikes, but they weren't "back on" afterwards). it's a terrible situation. we were really looking forward to playing in mexico. some of us had apartments booked to come and stay for the week and really get to know the city a bit more. we were ready. but there's nothing we can do now, and we're very sorry. we will come again someday, and hopefully make a lot of friends.

LCD Soundsystem Brings Us Up To Speed

Check out this massive update, courtesy of DFA:

1. The next LCD Soundsytem single will be "Someone Great" and will feature remixes of "Sound of Silver" by Carl Craig, "Time To Get Away" by Gucci Soundsystem "Get Innocuous" by Soulwax and "Us Vs Them" by Windsurf. It will also have live version of "Us Vs Them" from KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic program. With this will be a video directed by Doug Aitken.

2. There will be a limited edition 7" available for the LCD/AF tour dates that will have a cover of Joy Divisions "No Love Lost" & Serge Gainsbourg's "Poupee De Cire".

3. Watch out for LCD to perform on Leno, 9/19.

4. Sept 18th, LCD will release the Bunch of Stuff EP which will include the Franz Ferdinand cover of "All My Friends" + all of the remixes from the "Someone Great" single.

5. Fabric Live featuring James Murphy and Pat Mahoney will be released October 15th.

6. DFA will release (formerly digital-only track) '45:33' on CD and vinyl with a few extra tracks and remixes sometime in mid-November.
