Gary Jules & Ian Love Playing AIDS Benefit Show

Gary Jules (the voice behind that eery yet beautiful Donnie Darko tune, a cover of Tears For Fears' 'Mad World') and old favorite, Ian Love, will join forces this Saturday at NYC's Crash Mansion. The show will benefit Networth/Positive Action - a grassroots non-profit dedicated to promoting AIDS/HIV education, care and prevention on a local and national level. 100% of the proceeds will benefit this great organization, I suggest arriving early as this show will surely sell out. Doors are at 7. All other pertinent info on the flier below.

Ian Love @ Union Hall: Electric Mainline

Tonight was the first time I've seen Ian perform an electric set with a full band, and it was undeniably phenomenal. Unfortunately, I forgot my handy digicam so rather than including a crappy cellphone pic with this post, I've decided to instead give you a homemade video of the acoustic version of 'The Only Night', as performed on Domestic Disturbance Radio about 5 months ago.

For those who still haven't taken our advice and checked out Ian's heartwarming live show (have we geared you incorrectly before?), you have another chance next week! He'll be at the brand new Williamsburg White Rooom on Saturday the 27th, and will delight the crowd somewhere around midnight. Read more about the intriguing exhibit at the gallery that evening, here!

Tattoo Art and Ian Love

Saturday, January 27th at the new music and art space White Room in Williamsburg, Ian Love and Bearhands will be performing at the opening of the exhibition entitled The Tattoo Arts.

You might remember Ian Love from the party The Music Slut threw back in October. We love Ian around here for his heart wrenchingly beautiful songs, and this show is a great opportunity to see him in such a gorgeous space.

The opening starts at 8pm and free keg beer will be flowing from 8-9pm. For those interesting in only the art, the show will hang for a week, January 27th until February 9th.

Ian Love & Paul Schneider @ The Magnetic Field

Ian Love and Paul Schneider perfected the ultimate in singer/songwriter tag teams on Thursday evening in Brooklyn's Magnetic Field. Ian started the show in fine form, acoustic guitar, harmonica and iPod in tow. Opening with Music Slut fave 'Butterly' and running through most of his debut solo album (he used to be in Rival Schools amongst other punk/hardcore bands back in the day). Ian mentioned how when he performed his Nick-Drake influenced tunes in England the kids went crazy and even performed a sort of interpretive dance. Check the comments on his MySpace to check out the hilarious video! Read what CMJ has to say about the album, here.

Ending the night was Paul Schneider. I recalled his name from his Melody Nelson curated residency at Pianos a few months back. He was with his full band this time around and his sound really clicked with the packed pub (perhaps it was the free drink tickets he was giving out prior to his set!) He easily made a fan out of me. Hear more over at his MySpace.

More shows are on the horizon over at The Magnetic Field. Take a look!!
