Daniel Powter + Death Cab For Cutie: Together At Last!

Oh no! HITS is reporting that tomorrow the annual Grammy nominees album will make its way onto iTunes and into retail stores.

The album includes the hits from: Gnarls Barkley, Mary J. Blige, Corinne Bailey Rae, John Mayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Justin Timberlake, Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, KT Tunstall, James Blunt, Daniel Powter, Death Cab for Cutie, Black Eyed Peas, The Fray, Keane and more. I didn't even realize Death Cab was nominated for anything this year! Maybe the Grammy committee is trying to market this year's CD to a younger age bracket than years past. Who knows?

HITS also claims that: This year's compilation will come out via Sony BMG's Commercial Music Group, with a portion of the proceeds from the sale to benefit MusiCares Foundation and the Grammy Foundation.

Alright, that should count for something!

Err, I'm still not gonna be picking up this one anytime soon.

The Powter/Blunt/Geiger Complex

What should I call it?
Post-Mayer syndrome?
Singer-Songwriter nauseau?
Pretty BOYS make graves?

I can't stand this latest trend of male singer-songwriters. And all of them have top 5 songs!

What the hell? I guess I'll never understand mainsteam America's musical taste.

Now let's get started with Mr. Blunt who I will admit to not hating as much as the others. Maybe because he's British and semi-good looking (although a little monkey-like, no?)... Either way, Chris Martin does and will always do it better than you. So, stop. David Gray wants his signature sound back by the way. Way to take something and run with it. You thief!!

Daniel Powter. I hate you and your 'Bad Day' crap song. I'm happy to report that MetaCritic proves that you are awful and hopefully you will go away just as quickly as you entered my world. Oh, and you misspelled your last name.

Ok, now to the underage members of Pretty Boys Make Graves. Teddy Geiger. I think someone went to the nearest suburban mall, plucked you out of Pacific Sunwear and gave you a makeover. You then met with the same hairdresser that the lead guy from All American Rejects goes to and before you knew it, you had a record deal. I'd love to see you in 5 years when you release your angsty I-hate-what-the-music-industry-did-to-me indie record. Maybe then I'll have some interest.

Who do/what trend do YOU hate in pop music today?

While you think about it... here's some singer-songwriters that I LOVE and some of their best tracks:

Elliott Smith - Say Yes
Sufjan Stevens - Chicago (live)
Feist - Mushaboom (remix)
