Over the course of the last twenty four months, I've seen so many Pela gigs that I've honestly lost count of the grand total. Whereas all of those shows focused on their out of print EP, Exit Columbia Street
, and their debut full length, Anytown Graffiti
, last night's emphasis was placed upon a handful of their new selections. Pela's latest tunes introduce keys & saxophone into the melting pot. Additionally, frontman Billy McCarthy even tackles one song entirely a capella (the result was nothing short of dandy). The band's sophomore record is due out sometime before Christmas 2008.
