M.I.A. Gets Censored On Letterman

See below for her (lackluster?) performance of Kala's 'Paper Planes' from last week's taping of The Late Show. Notice the absence of gunshots in the song's chorus, per Letterman's request - and M.I.A.'s apparent surprise during the first edit! Love the bird-flipping just before the clip's closing moments. Download M.I.A.'s 'Bamboo Banga' at bottom of post.

It's also missing the stellar breakdown:

"M.I.A. Third-World Democracy,
Yeah I got mo' records than the K.G.B.
So, ah, no funny-business?"

seems like a totally incorrect venue for her to be performing at. it's bullshit she let them censor her. she should have chosen a different song to perform or just declined to perform without the gunshots and other verse/bridge.

I say, the more people you can seduce into that venus fly trap known as M.I.A., the better. Even if it means a little censorship here or there on a late-night show, the more people will have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful lady.
