True Colors Tour @ Radio City: Like A Rainbow

The full show was close to five (!) hours in length... However, rather than reliving the entire journey step by step by step, here's my review in *under 100 words*.

The Gossip: Absolutely incredible. Highlight of the evening. The trio even busted out Aaliyah's 'R U That Somebody?'. Beth had on a fabulous purple shimmery dress.

Dresden Dolls: Impressive. Won over a reluctant crowd. 'Coin-Operated Boy' was met with huge applause, as was the Jacque Brel cover. Class act, as per usual. Ace.

Debbie Harry: Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. Vocals were off, not one single Blondie track performed and Debbie now goes by Deborah. Sigh. And Deb, you know we love you, but the silver mini-skirt was easily the fashion faux pas of the year.

Erasure: Electro-pop gods prove why they got the title in the first place. 'A Little Respect', 'Chains Of Love' + 'Oh L'Amour' met with rapturous approval. Biggest cheers of the night.

Cyndi Lauper: God love her. Wig, unmatching high heels, Karen O-esque gown and all. 'True Colors' choir to close the show = perfection. Accent was flaring out of control!

EVERYBODY was disappointed that Deb Harry didn't sing anything familiar. Vocally she was great but yes very very disappointing not to hear anything we knew. She was also the least personable performer of the night. And the outfit was waaaaaaaaay off.

I really loved the whole show, Margaret Cho is a comic genius and a perfect hostess. It was nice to see Rosie lick her wounds in publice, I look forward to maybe more stand up from her.

The Gossip and their lead singer Beth have a promising future ahead of them, they just need better songs. I appreciated the Dresden Dolls, their performance was very artsy and theatrical, I liked how the drummer kept tossing his sticks, but I am not running to buy their CD. Deborah Harry sounded pitch perfect and I guess you have to be a real devotee to know "French Kissing in the USA", "Jam Was Moving" and "Rush Rush" but those are old solo works of hers. Yes, she should've sang one Blonie song and worn fuck me pumps. She has never been one for moving around and she is best with the boys, Blondie behind her. Erasure was fucking awesome, I was so impressed.

CYNDI LAUPER IS BAR NONE, THE GREATEST LIVE PERFORMER TODAY! I have seen her seven times prior and this set list was heaven. She went up one notch on the diva scale, love, love her!

I saw the Toronto show the night after and I agree - In Toronto the Gossips got a standing ovation and Beth wripped off her dress and sang wearing her undies.

the cliks and the dresden dolls put on solid performances

debbie harry - i agree was disappointing

erasure - could hacve potentially considered to actually have stolen the evening. (wasn't this tour Andy's idea anyways)

Cindy Lauper - amazing !!!
