Bloc Party Frontman: 'Drugs Are Synonymous With Life'

Expect nothing short of a total whirlwind of controversy in the coming days surrounding this quote from Bloc Party frontman, Kele, via Total Spec magazine:

"I think in the 21st Century drug-taking is something that is synonymous with life, really. All I intended to do with the songs is to capture what modern life feels like."

Slutloyals, what are your thoughts on this one? Is he speaking the truth or are you majorly offended?

Well since he's already spoken out against both Jack White and Pete Doherty who are both considerably more talented than he I'd say he's a monster regardless.

Well, i think drugs have always been and always be a part of life not just in these modern times. Of course it's become a much more mainstream and acceptable thing...he's just stating a fact, nothing really enlightening.

I don't think it's an endorsement, but people feel the need to escape in one way or another. And for some people that means drugs. But yeah, he's not saying 'omg everyone does drugz lol' or anything.

I would say this is the least prolific thing he has ever said. he's definitely not talking about the average joe on the street.

what on earth would be majorly offensive about that? its only incorrect in the sense that drugs have been part of everyday existence since humans came into being. pot is one of the earliest cultivated plants. whole wars have happened because of sugar and the resulting slave trade, opium in china...how many people take prescription speed across the world? or prescription downers? tons and tons. nothing un-obvious about that statement.
