Rolling Stone's Top 25 'Best Songs For Reefer Gladness'

I can surely understand Pink Floyd at #1 and 'Purple Haze' in the top 5 but New Order? Who gets high to 'Blue Monday'?

If you do, we want to know. We're also curious as to who lights up at the thought of Peter Bjorn & John. That one really threw us as well. Without any further analysis, here's the list.

1. “Shine On You Crazy Diamonds, Pts. 1-5” – Pink Floyd
2. “Pack the Pipe” – The Pharcyde
3. “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space” – Spiritualized
4. “Purple Haze” – Jimi Hendrix
5. “White Rabbit” – Jefferson Airplane
6. “Slow Ride” – Foghat
7. “Summertime” – Janis Joplin
8. “Feelin’ Alright” – Joe Cocker
9. “ Everything In Its Right Place” – Radiohead
10. “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” – Dr. Dre
11. “Moonage Daydream” – David Bowie
12. “No Quarter” – Led Zeppelin
13. “Higher Than The Sun” – Primal Scream
14. “Roses Are Free” – Ween
15. “Spirit In the Sky” – Norman Greenbaum
16. “Young Folks” – Peter Bjorn & John
17. “El Scorcho” – Weezer
18. “It’s Good to Be King” – Tom Petty
19. “Blue Monday” – New Order
20. “1979” – Smashing Pumpkins
21. “Someone Great” – LCD Soundsystem
22. “Float On” – Modest Mouse
23. “ More Than This” – Roxy Music
24. “Candle” – Sonic Youth
25. “Summersong” – Decemberists

Puff away to this...

as per rolling stone usual, there is not nearly enough hip-hop on this list. and "float on"? that shit is way too bombastic to get high to, if you ask me. seems to me like they went into their itunes and typed in a bunch of words that are synonymous to "high" and "fire" and this is what came up.

ONLY ONE HIP HOP SONG?!?

I'm sick of their use of "top".

"Homogenized 25" or "Lowest Common Denominator 25" would be more appropriate. I'm glad to see Ween made the list but I'd rather listen to "Waving My Dick in the Wind" or "Happy Colored Marbles" when I'm high.

As someone who doesn't smoke the marijuana cigarettes, I don't know how objectively I can comment, but I'm pretty sure every song needs to be reasonably slow, thus "Float On" and "Young Folks" make little sense. How about "The Joker" by Steve Miller Band?

What a useless and embarrassing list. Maybe 5 of those songs would have any appeal to me when high. (And, as much as I love "Young Folks," it's better when straight.)
