Elliott Smith Rarities To See The Light Of Day

"New Moon", a collection of 24 Elliott Smith B-sides/rarities/songs that probably should have never been introduced to the public (a la most of Jeff Buckley's Sketches For My Sweetheart, The Drunk) will be released as a double disc/vinyl set on May 8th via Kill Rock Stars.

The material was recorded throughout 1995-1997 and includes an early version of 'Miss Misery' and the never-before-heard song 'Either/Or', which of course, is the title of Elliott's 3rd album. Exciting!

Portions of sales of the album will go to Outside In, a Portland-based social service.

Tracklist for New Moon:

Disc 1:
"Angel in the Snow"/"Talking to Mary"/"High Times"/"New Monkey"/"Looking Over My Shoulder"/"Going Nowhere"/"Riot Coming"/"All Cleaned Out"/"First Timer"/"Go By"/"Miss Misery" (early version)/"Thirteen"

Disc 2:
"Georgia Georgia"/"Whatever (Folk Song In C)"/"Big Decision"/"Placeholder"/"New Disaster"/"Seen How Things Are Hard"/"Fear City"/"Either/Or"/"Pretty Mary K" (other version)/"Almost Over"/"See You Later"/"Half Right"

*Incidentally, there's no update on Zack Braff's rumored role portraying Elliott in the biopic, but we're just aching to find out if it's true!

MP3: Elliott Smith - Between The Bars (one of my favorite Elliott tunes)
