It's in Edinburgh.

The Camera Obscura, that is. Camera Obscura, on the other hand, are a fabulous outfit from right here in Scotland. After the joyous Underachievers Please Try Harder, they're going to be releasing a follow up, Let's Get Out of this Country, on the 5th of June in the UK and the day after in the states. It's a sumptuous affair, with some truly gorgeous vocals from Tracyanne Campbell, lush string arrangements as well as a countryesque twinge and a lovely Scottish lilt that comes across in the proceedings too. First single, 'Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken' came out on the 15th of this month, and it's well worth a download or waiting for it to pop through the post box. In fact, it's a real highlight; the whole album is just beautiful, but 'Lloyd...' is a stunning set piece. In addition to the title track, 'The False Contender' is also a terrific highpoint; if only for the awesome accordion playing...; but the whole record is worth finding.

I'd also recommend poking around on their website... you can even venture into bassist Gavin Dunbar's kitchen, if you like...!

I am loving this new album. Esp title track - how can you not love a song that includes the phrase "bee's knees"?
Damn, the album's not out until June :( I need it now, as both Come Back Margaret and Lloyd..., are both stunning.
Fantastic album artwork as well.
It is great artwork isn't it!
Believe me, it'll be worth the wait, Alex, it's a great record! I've only had it a day and can say with some certainty that it's going to be one of my top records of 2006...!
Hi!
I've been searching for KT Tunstall's cover for Fake Plastic Trees since March, and I just stumbled with it in the blog archives, but the link expired... I don't know if you use to repost some files, but I'm asking, could you post the song again??? I just can't find it anywhere...
Since now, thanks a lot!!!
Well... I wouldn't normally, but since you seem nice (i.e., you read through the archives!) it's been reuploaded on the original post. If you can, though, i absolutely recommend buying whatever of KT's you can get your hands on!
