She was not your wife!

Yes. After resisting for oh, so long, it's time for the inevitable Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins post.*

Okay, this is late, very late indeed. Especially since Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins have been all over t'interweb for the last, God, forever, ever since it was leaked. And if you're in the States, you can even download the whole of Rabbit Furcoat over on the Team Love website, sans Handle with Care (I *think* for copyright reasons, they're not providing it as it's the only cover version on there; but you can find it easily enough via the Hype Machine). Anyway, I wasn't going to post, since I don't have too much new to add, but you can blame Jen who asked 'why not?'

Personal favourite for me is the amazing Rise up with Fists; posting it here is kinda redundant, since it's also pretty easily available, but I will anyway.

Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - Rise Up With Fists

This song is just lovely; slow moving, aching; yet also empowering (oh man, getting all slooshy over the song!) I feel like I can rise up with fists after this too (and bop ya on the nose!)

Watch the video here (thanks to the Modern Age for the link)

Similarly, some of the Watson Twins' material is similarly fantastische:

The Watson Twins: Friend and Foe

So basically, it's got me into the whole country inflected-Americana thing with Rilo Kiley too, a band that I've never really 'got' before, though I'm beginning to adore them now. Here's another slow number (that everyone no doubt has already) that puts Lewis' voice to good use (and has some amazing harmonies on it, too).

Rilo Kiley - Science Vs. Romance

Anyway, I'm off to see Lewis in Glasgow in April; I managed to gain a lift by playing someone Rise Up With Fists and the rest of Rabbit Furcoat, now they want to go too... hurrah!

*you know me. If there's a band wagon, etc, etc.
