The Glass Shatters At The Delancey
It's like all the genius that came out of 80s Britpop/rock and late 90s electronica all wrapped up into one.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the band lists Everything But The Girl, Jesus and the Mary Chain and New Order as their biggest influences on their MySpace page.
The first words uttered at this show by the ever-delightful and cocky lead singer were something like 'You better dance, you jaded New York motherfuckers' in a heavy Irish accent. I fell in love with them pretty quickly.
I also adore the fact that there is a live DJ, working the turntables during the show. This gave it a very slight early Beastie Boys sound, which of course I dug.
Follow this link to hear their entire EP, I'm particularly fond of "Fourteen Again" and "Heard It All Before", so if you are in a rush, I suggest you should check out those first.
Truly a great way to end a Thursday evening.
