Johnny Cash's Former Home 'Burned To The Ground'

LondonNet reports: "Johnny Cash's former home burned to the ground yesterday afternoon (10.04.07). The lakeside house in Hendersonville, Tennessee - which is now owned by Bee Gees singer Barry Gibb and was undergoing construction - caught ablaze and despite the efforts of the local fire department the building could not be saved.

Cash's brother Tommy said: 'It literally burned to the ground. I watched it burn. I couldn't believe that it was happening. It was just horrible.'

The famous glass and wood building on the shore of Old Hickory Lake apparently caught fire after a spark ignited a wood preservative applied to the interior. Hendersonville fire chief Jamie Steele said: 'We have a pretty good idea what happened.' Gibb and his wife Linda bought the house last January. The couple released a statement saying: 'We are both saddened and devastated by the news.' Cash bought the house in 1968 and he and his wife June Carter Cash lived there until their deaths in 2003."

Sad, sad news.
