K. Young Issues Statement, Girl In A Coma = Replacement

Here's the official word: *My band, KRISTEENYOUNG, have been asked to leave the Morrissey tour. Although I have been advised not to respond or issue a statement, my feelings are that I must. We have been asked to leave because of something I said on stage at The Hammerstein, in NYC, this past Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the statement has been perceived as being profane (when, actually, one of the two words in question is a scientific term found in junior high, health class text books, and the other word, I feel most would agree, is lightweight slang) or defamatory. What I said was part of a thread of stage statements I made throughout our set. They were metaphorical and overstated to make an artistic point. The “offending” statement, in particular, was in no way a literal statement, and was very much in keeping with the tone of my writing in general. I reach for beauty and intelligence in my lyrics, but try to retain a bit of the everyday in them. Maybe the statement was a bit TOO everyday. Maybe I misjudged… but I meant no harm. I love Morrissey with all of my heart, soul, body, spirit, to the core of my existence and always will. These will be the only words I will ever write or speak on the subject ever again. Please don’t ask for an interview or e-mail me with questions.

in a nutshell, in addition to being a total bitch to the non-responsive crowd, she ended her set with 'morrissey gives great head, err, i mean cunnilingus!', i guess she thought it was funny. it was in poor taste. she was BOOed terribly.

eh, I never really cared much for her, anyway....and being from San Antonio (where GIAC are from) it's pretty awesome seeing those girls get that slot.

Seems like kind of a petty reason to kick her off the tour; it was pretty obviously a joke, even if it failed utterly. I was underwhelmed by their set, although the sound man had done them no favors with the mix, so that probably didn't help. But mostly I think their one-keyboard-and-drums lineup didn't offer enough sonic variety to stay interesting from song to song. I really liked their first number, but my interest waned steadily afterward.

It's better for anyone going to see Moz through the rest of the tour that she's no longer the opening act. It was one of the worst opening acts I've seen in some time. I would take King Cheetah over Kristeen Young any day. As Francis said, the sound wasn't good and the lineup didn't offer much variety. The songs sounded too similar to one another.

I typically don't like it when others say these things, but I have a sneaky suspicion that she got where she is because of who she's slept with.
