Let the Thom Yorke Parade Continue...

Today, I sent in my review for The Eraser to Newsday and I gave it an A. Thom Yorke's solo effort is short, sweet and beautiful. The lyrics are minimal in some of the songs and all have to do in some way with the agony of love. The title track is by far my favourite with the lyrics:
"The more you try to erase me
The more, the more
The more that I appear
Oh the more, the more
The more I try to erase you
The more, the more"

The last song, 'Cymbal Rush' is about the frenetic chaos of trying to save a relationship that should maybe be left to drown. You can watch Thom perform it on the Henry Rollins show:

The Eraser invokes early Radiohead, think The Bends and OK Computer, but strips away all but the piano and electronica. It is dark and pleading- reminding me of Sigur Ros at their most inexplicable. It is an album best listened to on rainy afternoons and during deep conversations on late Saturday nights.
